OneBox makes it easy to search for locations! You simply type in an address or point of interest (POI) and submit the query to OneBox. OneBox figures out what you are looking for and then sends you a list of candidates.
OneBox saves you time and aggravation by guessing what the different aspects of your input means, rather than asking you to provide the information using multiple boxes (e.g. Street, City, Region, Country). Because every user may specify a location in a different way (e.g. varying syntax, varying levels of detail, different ordering of information), OneBox must strategically determine what the input means.
If OneBox does not understand your input (e.g. if there are just too many spelling mistakes, or a wrong house number, etc), it uses various methods to try its best to figure out what you meant. In this scenario, however, there is a risk that the results returned by OneBox may not include the location that you were trying to find. OneBox tries everything that it can to find your location on your first search attempt. OneBox can return results more quickly and more accurately if your input is meaningful; it's easier to find something when you know what you are looking for!
OneBox is improving all the time! We analyze common (and uncommon!) inputs in order to improve the way that OneBox determines what your input means. You don't have to update your application before you can use new OneBox features, however some features may require configuration. OneBox is updated behind the scenes so you can access new features immediately! Please check back often to learn about new features.
